Helpful Hints from Your Alexander High Administrative team

What you Need to Do RIGHT NOW!!!

  

  • Start doing your work!
  • Go to TUTORING (5th Block)  See Ms. Gibbons in Rm. 9!
  • Focus!
  • Make your academics a PRIORITY!
  • Ask your teacher for a grade printout so you can see what you are missing or Ask the teacher to show you in his gradebook what you are missing
  • Ask for Help (if you are embarrassed, ask after class)
  • Ask for Makeup Work Now and for Thanksgiving Break
  • Ask to retake Quizzes or Tests that you failed
  • Do not be a discipline problem! (Stop talking)
  • Come to school everyday!
  • Get to class on time!
  • Be Prepared! (Pencil, Paper, Pen, Notebook, Homework, Classwork, etc.)
  • Get off your cell phone! (STOP TEXTING!)
  • Stop writing notes to your girlfriend or boyfriend!
  • Do all of your classwork!
  • Do all of your homework!
  • Ask questions if you do not understand!
  • Study! {For each Academic Core Class or Foreign Language study at least 20-30 minutes a night} [If you are failing four academic classes, you need to spend 1 hour and 20 minutes to 2 hours a night studying. 3 Classes 1 hr. to 1 hr. 30 minutes. 2 Classes 40 minutes to 1 hr.]
  • Take time for and prepare for your tests and quizzes.

 

Ways to Study

  1. Notecards
  2. Rewrite your Notes
  3. Read over your Notes
  4. Make yourself a test (Multiple Choice)
  5. Read your textbook
  6. Ask your parents/family/friends to quiz you
  7. Study at a specific time every night
  8. Use mnemonics to learn things (PEMDAS - Please eexcuse my dear aunt sally)
  9. Create your own Graphic Organizer
  10. Set your own personal Academic Goals

 

Bottom Line is YOU have to want to do BETTER! I have tried to list as many things that I can think of for you to improve your grades in the next seven weeks. Focus and Make it Happen!
