The mission of the Business and Computer Science Department is to provide quality business education experiences that allow all students to become economically and technologically trained in society’s thriving industries.

Program Philosophy

Recognizing that educational success can be realized only when the student-teacher-parent triad is in harmony, the Business and Computer Science Department intends a community-based partnership among this triad that will enable our youth to reach their highest potential—intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Bio

Welcome to my page! I am glad to see you! This is my 15th year teaching and my 13th year at AHS. This school really is special and we are all very fortunate to be a part of the AHS family.

I have been married to John Kimsey for 32 years. We have 4 children. My daughter, Jordan, is 31. She is married and has 3 step-children. My daughter, Jaye, is 30. She is enrolled at Georgia State University majoring in Nutrition Science. My son, Brit, is 27. He is an apprentice lineman at GreyStone Power.  My daughter, Kiley, is 21 and she is a senior at Georgia State majoring in Business Management.

I have the greatest dog in the world. (REALLY!)  His name is Charlie and he is a yorkie/cavalier spaniel mix. He is wonderful and I am pretty obsessed with him! We got another rescue dog last spring. His name is Murphy. He is a spaniel/pekinese mix and he is C-R-A-Z-Y!

I help Ms. Hutson with FBLA.

I am passionate about the subjects that I teach! The one thing that  ALL students at AHS have in common is that they will one day have financial responsibilities. Consider the following:

* Research shows that 70% of college graduates have $35,000 in student loan debt!

* Money problems are the #1 reason for divorce in our country.

* Less than 1/3 of Americans have a plan that will allow them to retire with dignity!

It is my job to make sure that my students do not add to these statistics. It is my goal that all of my Banking/Investing and Financial Literacy students leave my class with the knowledge and tools that will allow them to enjoy the benefits that come with financial success.

I am an active person. I enjoy playing tennis, spinning and working out at Gold's Gym. I try to take care of myself and want to stay as strong as I can for as long as I can. I like to work hard and play hard. As long as you do the work first, life can be really fun and fulfilling!
