I graduated from Ga State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1986.  I majored in biology and minored in chemistry.  I also earned an AA in criminal justice.

I graduated from University of West Georgia with a Master of Science in Biology in 2000.  I recently completed my Specialist in Education, Ed. S in Seocndary Science and Teaching (2012) from University of West Georgia.

I have gifted certification and AP Biology certification.




This is my 25th year teaching in public schools.  I have been certified to teach in three states and have taught at the following schools:

Clarke Middle School- 1987-1989 Athens, Ga

Harvester Christian Academy-  1991-1992 and 1994-1995 Douglasville, Ga

Villa Rica High School- 1995-2000 Villa Rica, Ga.

Ponce Middle School- 2000-2002 Miami, Fl

Peach County High School- 2002-2004 Fort Valley, Ga.

Crooked Oak Middle/High School- 2005-2006  Oklahoma City, OK

Alexander High School- 2006 til current

West Georgia Technical College-2013 til current, Adjunct Professor of Anatomy & Physiology



I was born in 1962 in Hialeah, Florida to Richard and Nan McQuillen.  I have two brothers and one sister.  In 1964, my family moved to Lithia Springs, Ga. and I enjoyed growing up in Douglas County and attending Douglas County Schools.  I graduated from Lithia Springs High School in 1980, then attended Ga. Tech and Georgia State University.  Afterwards, I worked in research for the University of Georgia.  This is my 25th year teaching in public schools.

  I have a wonderful family:  I am married to Mica Laver and have 3 wonderful children. Rachael Stewart Allen is married to Zack Allen. Both are graduates of Ga. Tech and and the proud parents of my granddaughter, beautiful Ansley Allen and grandson,Xander Allen.   Rebekah Stewart, a 2008 graduate of AHS, also graduated from Georgia Tech  (Class of 2012). Zack Stewart is my youngest and  a recent graduate 2103 of Alexander High School.  

I am a member of Central Baptist Church and belong to the Ladies' Class which I enjoy very much.  I hope that you are as blessed in life as I am.
