In 1986, I earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Samford University in English and psychology. Then in 1997, I earned my Master of Education degree in special education from the University of West Georgia. Specific to my position, I'm certified in Life Space Crisis Intervention and I'm a certified MindSet trainer.

Having started teaching in 1986, my experience is wide-ranging. I have taught both general and special education, all grade levels from K-12, and all subjects. The first 6 years, I taught high school English and journalism in Birmingham, AL. After that, I taught middle school language arts and social studies in Dallas, GA. Having found my heart to be in special education, I began teaching self-contained classes for students with emotional/behavioral issues here in Douglas County from 1997-2007. Since 2007, I have been in an administrative position as a lead teacher with the Douglas County program of the Georgia Network of Educational and Therapeutic Supports (GNETS) named H.A.V.E.N. Academy. As lead teacher, I provide instructional and behavioral support and supervision for the staff and students at the high school level. I love what I do and I can't think of any other place I'd rather work!

Originally from Ranburne, AL, I now live in Douglas County with my husband, two sons, my dog, and a bearded dragon. I love to read, write, and go walking in the woods. My family enjoys camping, playing board games, and going to church together. In addition to being a Christian, I am an animal lover and a nature lover, and you will see that when you walk into my office at AHS. I head to the mountains whenever I can! I believe in compassion, generosity, and doing my part to help the world become a simpler, happier place.
