Bio

Greetings!

This is my tenth year to teach at Alexander High School, although I was a short and long-term sub here for several years before that.  In the year 2016-17, I was voted Teacher of the Year for Alexander High School and was a Semi-finalist for Douglas county.

All three of my children graduated from Alexander High School with honors. Go cougars!

I received a degree in Physical Education and a minor in English from Samford University. I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching English Language Arts from the University of West Alabama.  Today I am certified to teach English, Special Education and Physical Education. I have a gifted endorsement and have been trained in AP English, AP Language, and AP Seminar.

I have spent most of my life teaching, coaching, and raising a family. In college, I taught introductory swimming classes and in the summers I ran recreation programs in my home town. Later I organized new swim programs in the areas in which we lived. I taught high school English before I had my first child. Then for many years, I was mom, wife, coach and teacher of miscellaneous "stuff." For several years I taught my children at home, which is why they are so smart! They say I was unreasonably demanding. You be the judge:)

Today, when I am not grading essays, I enjoy playing the French horn, or reading a good book.  I can also totally immerse myself in writing and am working on several creative pieces.  In the summers, I teach Bible studies for women out of my home, which is very satisying.

I look forward to meeting my students. Each one is valuable; therefore, I will treat each one with great care. See you in room 408!
